More from the Convention Competition
I love the story behind this display! Click on images to enlarge. Sorry for the glare; many of these beloved pieces were protected by glass or plastic.
"I waited at the drug store each month for 'Katy' to arrive." Many collectors can relate, with similar tales of how they patiently acquired their childhood treasures.

Convention Competition: Paper doll treasures
One of the delightful exhibits of every convention: Collectors bring their rare sets or beloved items for display in the Competition. In the past a select group of judges voted; this year, everyone had a vote. It was not easy. Each entrant filled out a form explaining why the particular entry was special. Today and tomorrow, I'll post pictures from this enchanting display. Click on image to read text, or to get a closer look.

A charming necklace
Cynthia Wuthrich of New Hope, Pa. donated one of her fantastic handmade one-of-a-kind charm necklaces to the raffle table. In addition to vintage doodads, Cynthia (pictured below) enclosed miniature copies of paper dolls to the little book dangling at the bottom. Elaine Price was the lucky winner.

Winnie Wallpaper
It was fun blogging highlights from the convention in real time via my iPhone. Now that I'm home, I'll post more photos that I didn't have time to upload last week.
Scott Jorgenson led a fun workshop on making paper doll clothes out of wallpaper. Templates, glue and paper were provided. David Wolfe designed the paper doll, Winnie Wallpaper.
