A handmade paper doll by Margaret Menamin

One of the beautiful things about paper doll collecting is the friendships that are formed.

The friendship between Margaret Menamin and Carol Carey was a thing to behold. They delighted in each other's company and creativity.

This is a paper doll that Margaret made as a birthday gift for Carol in 1996. Margaret died after a short illness in 2009; you can read more about her here.

Mopsy inspired, 1939

This is from a 1939 catalog of patterns "For Women Who Sew," that was distributed by Rocky Mountain News. It was published by Today's Pattern Bureau out of Chicago. It's just one page; the other illustrations don't resemble Mopsy, and there are also photographs of movie stars wearing clothing similar to one you can make from these patterns.

I don't think Gladys Parker drew these outfits, but I could be wrong...perhaps these are Parker's own designs?
