Patty Duke Paper Dolls

Publisher: Whitman, 1964

Her Oscar-winning role as Helen Keller is a powerful tour de force, worthy of a seasoned actress, although she was a child at the time. She delighted us in her light-hearted TV show. And when at last she told her own story, she inspired us all over again. Call her Anna.

  3. So many incredible performances by her. Always loved My Sweet Charlie and Me, Natalie. I'm getting older and my idols are passing.

  4. I'll have to check those later films out; I also recall Billie, in which she was a tomboy. When you consider her contemporaries, Sally Field and Hayley Mills, Patty Duke didn't have as many opportunities to shine on the big screen. But The Miracle Worker is still an amazing film to watch. And she and Anne Bancroft actually performed it on the stage at least 5 nights a week and two matinees!
