OMG! I had that same bathing suit (only in tomato red), the same hairstyle and was 10 years old in 1952. I think the shirring was meant to give one some kind of shape, which of course it did not.
Wow she is beautiful! Really skillful painting; everything is lovely but I particularly admire her legs and those FEET!
