A Brenda Starr Christmas, 1941

Brenda Starr and friends, Dec. 21, 1941. Just two weeks after Pearl Harbor. A comforting tableau for a difficult time.

  1. I love this! I'm sorry to hear Brenda Starr's going out of circulation-- I was doing some reading up on Brenda Frazier and came across the fact that the Brenda Starr strip got its name and some inspiration from the 40's "celebutante" and am looking forward to learning more about the comic!

  2. Brenda was my girl! I was in the 8th grade in 1941 and still played with paper dolls. More designing dresses for them. I had a friend, Fern Davis, who was a paper doll fanatic, too, and we spent hours playing with them. What a lovely little scene - and I remember Pearl Harbor Day very, very well. Merry Christmas, Linda!
