It's Up to You
This postcard is fascinating. On the face of it, given the style of the car, it looks like a Depression-era exhortation for people to pull themselves and their country out of the stagnant economy by working hard and spending money. As we well know today, fear and rumor have an extraordinary pull on the financial markets and consumer spending.
But flip the card over and you find the postcard was mailed in 1947 to a young man at the Veterans Hospital at Mt. McGregor, NY ("No answer needed" is added to the address box.
Not all of the script is easy to read, but this line is clear: "Sell yourself back to health."
