Probably the period of greatest change in 20th century fashion took place between the two world wars. Women finally threw off the tyranny of the corset, heavy skirts and layers of underwear to embrace the freedom of 1920s and 30s styles. And Paris designers enjoyed creating looks inspired by new art movements such as Art Deco and Surrealism.

This wonderful book by Brenda Sneathen Mattox offers two dolls and 16 outfits all based on Paris fashions from 1918 to 1939 including designs by Lelong, Lanvin, Callot Soeurs, Fortuny, Poiret, Chanel, Vionnet, Patou, Delaunay, Salvador Dali and Schiaparelli. A real treat for fans of the Downton Abbey era of fashion.
