The Paperdoll Circle, July 2009

A lovely 3-D paper doll graces the cover of the latest issue: Berenice--1890s Lady of Fashion by Two B's Design: Barbara Barnett and Barbara Plummer. This must have been a lot of work to cut and affix to the cover of each issue.

There's an excellent article by Margaret W. Brown about Off the Wall and the Jones Sisters--Barbara Barnett and her late sister Shirley.

Many other goodies in this issue, including Sharing with Marion Jennings: An antique English set, and an article on The Infamous Madame X, which gives us some back story to the famous John Singer Sargent painting and the lovely Norma Lu Meehan paper doll it inspired.

Back cover: an adorable paper doll, "Brenda Lee visits London," by Linda Hoerner.

My joy at receiving this issue was tempered by a small paper that fell from between the pages, an addendum by Lorna Currie Thomopoulos, who publishes PD Circle: Her husband George has had a stroke, affecting his right side and speech. He is now in rehab, working toward recovery, with every intention of joining us in Las Vegas for convention.

Here's Lorna and George at last year's convention. We're keeping both of them in our prayers.
